grampadrew: clairvoyant adventure ep - $5.00

note: This EP is packaged as a cdr. It comes packaged just like any other CD. You won't be able to tell the difference by looking at it. It will play on almost all cd players, but if you have a problem, let me know. I'll refund your money and you can keep the cd. Can't get any more fair than that can you?

Sneak previews of the new album are here! Stay tuned, as we will leak some early mixes straight from the studio. Here are a couple to whet your appetite:

A demo video to a demo version of "get to know me". Three formats. Pick whatever tickles your fancy. The first one is the smallest file size and works just fine on my machine.

This Real Movie file (.rm) has some problems with popping. I'm still working on the bugs. Bear with me. Besides, it's free, so quitchyer bitchin':

While the label builds its own catalog, check out some great music by other independent artists and artists on other labels. My intention is to spread the word on all music I love, not just bands I've signed, so I'll always keep music by other consenting musicians here, in addition to my own catalog.

So Reverend, what have you heard about the UK, specifically, Essex?

Well, I've heard a few things. The first thing is about Essex girls, which I'll say nothing about except there is nothing wrong with being friendly. We could use more love in the world. Another thing I've heard about Essex, is there is a good scene blooming there. Specifically, there is a band out of Southend called EB2 that you should check out if you are in the area. Through much pressure, I've managed to muscle a few early recordings out of them to post here.

I have spoken with Mike Watt about the free distribution of MP3s several times and he has told me personally that he is for it. So I know he is cool with this, let's just hope his record company doesn't sue my ass off. Watt is one of the most amazing and respected working musicians playing today. For you MTV kids, you'll know his music from the show Jack-Ass. The song used as the theme to Jack-Ass is "Corona" by Watt's first band, the minutemen. If you don't know who Watt is, you should take it upon yourself to find out. Here are a few samples of his music.

A two minute education in the history and ideals of punk rock:

minutemen - History Lesson Part II.mp3

Two more songs by one of the most influential bands in Punk Rock. The minutemen helped reshape what was considered punk, proving it wasn't a sound as much as it was an attitude:

minutemen - If Reagan Played Disco.mp3

minutemen - Working Men Are Pissed.mp3

Watt has always covered the music that influenced him, always faithful in spirit, yet making the songs his own. Here's a Captain Beefheart cover:

Mike Watt - My Head Is My Only House Unless It Rains.mp3

Who else could, or would, cover The Stooges and John Coltrane in one song. From what I've read this was recorded in San Francisco with Steve Mackay (original Fun House horn player) on tenor Sax. If someone has more definitive info please enlighten me.

What do I know about Todd Snider? Not much, other than this song makes me laugh over and over. Nice commentary on what happens when the industry gets a hold of a thriving scene.
